Dumpster Pads

The areas where dumpsters are located and emptied by dumpster trucks take an enormous amount of beating and wear & tear. Very often these areas tend to develop base distress as evidenced by rutting, often severe, eventually resulting in failed asphalt and large blown out areas in the tire tracks of the trucks.

These areas should be repaired with either a heavy duty asphalt design, often with subgrade stabilization, or installation of a dumpster pad or an extension to an existing dumpster pad.

When considering the installation of a new dumpster pad or an extension to an existing one, make sure that the new concrete is designed to the proper specifications to support the weight of the garbage trucks. The pad should extend a minimum of 10 feet beyond where the front tires of the truck rest as the dumpster is being emptied and should consist of 6” to 8” of 5000psi, fiber-reinforced, air-entrained (4% - 5%) concrete. This provides a solid structure that can easily withstand the bouncing of the 40,000 pounds as the dumpsters are emptied.
